I need some help urgently...
I am using Trados Studio 2015 version and this morning when I opened the programm it took me to the installation process as if Iit was the first time I ever opened it.
Unfortunately I followed the instructions thinking that it would be some kind of update etc. and when the programm finally opened all my projects were gone!
Then I tried to opened the file from a folder and it gives me the following error:

/openAlignment La ruta del archivo completa de la alineación que desea abrir.
Tarea: Crear proyecto
Descripción: Inicia el Asistente de creación de proyectos.
Uso: SDLTradosStudio.exe /createProject [/files [ ...]] [/name ] [/template ] [/referenceProject ]
Argumentos:
/createProject Inicia el Asistente de creación de proyectos.
/files Ruta de acceso al archivo completa de uno o más documentos o carpetas que desee agregar al Asistente de creación de proyectos.
/name Nombre del proyecto
/template Ruta de acceso al archivo o nombre de plantilla existente que desee utilizar.
/referenceProject Ruta de acceso al archivo de proyecto de referencia existente que desee utilizar.
Tarea: Abrir documento
Descripción: Abre uno o varios documentos en la vista Editor.
Uso: SDLTradosStudio.exe /openDocument [ ...]
Argumentos:
/openDocument Ruta de acceso al archivo completa de uno o más documentos que desee abrir.
Tarea: Abrir memoria de traducción basada en archivos
Descripción: Abre una memoria de traducción basada en archivos o varias memorias de traducción basadas en archivos en la vista de Memorias de traducción.
Uso: SDLTradosStudio.exe /openFileTm [ ...]
Argumentos:
/openFileTm Ruta de acceso al archivo completa de una o varias memorias de traducción que desee abrir.
Tarea: Abrir paquete
Descripción: Abre un paquete en la vista Paquete.
Uso: SDLTradosStudio.exe /openPackage
Argumentos:
/openPackage Ruta de acceso al archivo completa del paquete que desee abrir.
Tarea: Abrir proyecto
Descripción: Abre un proyecto en la vista Proyectos.
Uso: SDLTradosStudio.exe /openProject

What can I do to fix this? Is all my work gone? I have to hand in a project on Tuesday that took me a month work... I am desperate... Thanks for your help ! ▲ Collapse

I believe that you should contact SDL help immediately.
As for the projects, they are probably still in the Studio folder in your Documents folder. Did you try to run a search using the search window on the start menu?

I am trying to contact some SDL help. But unfortunately I am not able to find someone to talk to. All are forum discussions and I cannot find any real persons to help me.

By that, do you mean you tried to open a project file (proj_file_name.sdlproj) in Windows Explorer by double clicking on it, or similar action?
Whenever a project vanishes from the project list in Studio, the first thing to try is the above action.

... even if you can't open the sdlproj files, you still have the sdlxliff and sdltm files, and all the content is in there and can be taken from there. Most agency PMs know how to do it and can assist you.
That said, how do you back up your data? Your fear sounds a little bit like that of people who don't save their data to an external hard disk continuously or at least every couple of hours.

Thanks for your answers. I do a safety copy of my files every now and then. I copy all the work folders to an external disk.
I just came back from a computer specialist who couldn't help me either. He said the problem is not my computer neither were there any updates made in Trados. He said he doesn't know why the packages vanished.
I tried to contact my client but there is noone im the office at this time.

Hi Andrea,
Did you try running a repair of Studio from the Control Panel? Sometimes that helps and it's a relatively quick process.

Studio 2015 will store by default all projects under C:\[user]\documents\Studio 2015\Projects. This applies when you create a default project in Studio. As long as you don't manually delete these folders/files all your projects and files will stay there, although they may vanish from the Trados list because of using 'delete from list' or because of some Trados malfunction.
In your case, I would advice you to run a repair of the software, after that re-open your projects one ... See more Andrea,

In your case, I would advice you to run a repair of the software, after that re-open your projects one by one by launching the 'Open Project' and navigating to that location (or in whatever location they are stored).
In all cases, DON'T delete your project files: they most likely have nothing to do with the Trados malfunction.
