I am unsatisfied with the dictionary translations of this loan word in English - the original text talks about a man who had written a best-selling exposé on a particular topic. Can we say somebody wrote a "rivelazione"? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If it's into Italian, you can search google to see how often it's used; my guess is that you could leave it in IT as well. Allora si, di solito le denunce si fanno su temi importanti tipo politica, ambiente, ecc. ecc. I "libri-denuncia" / "documentari-denuncia" in tv sono molto comuni nowadays!

السائل: Avevo pensato anche di questa parola nel contesto - e proprio come dici tu qua sopra, un libro che si tratta delle rivelazioni importanti su un tema d'attualita'. Grazie
شرح: Se ha scritto un libro su un certo argomento, allora ha scritto un saggio (a best-selling exposé on ...=un saggio di successo su ...). Se il libro suscita scalpore perché parla di qualcosa di nuovo ed esplosivo, puoi dire invece "libro rivelazione" (un po come "Gomorra" di Saviano per intenderci).
Servirebbe comunque più contesto.

Oppure puoi dire resoconto se non è un libro ma qualcosa di più breve.
Exposé assolutamente no, in italino si usa ma è legato all'orale, non allo scritto.

O puoi usare l'aggettivo "esplosivo" per dare l'idea della rivelazione.
