released party 피면책 당사자 Explanation: The released parties mean the parties who are released from the liability by the participant or the other party of the contract. The possible translation for the term is 피면책 당사자. But, I think the term is very literal, so I think it would be better for you to translate it as you described. |

released party 면책받은 당사자 Explanation: One of the most common pitfalls of the translation is that the translator knows what he/she is trying to mean in his/her translation, but the reader of that translation does not know exactly what it is in the source language term. I searched NAVER for both 피면책 and 면책받은... result is that 피면책's hit was 3 occurrences, whereas 면책받은's hit was enormous. That is, for most South Koreans, "면책받은 당사자" is much easier to understand than "피면책 당사자" http://search.naver.com/search.naver?sm=tab_hty.top&where=ne... http://search.naver.com/search.naver?sm=tab_hty.top&where=ne... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 4 hrs (2014-09-21 03:27:29 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I personally think that translation should always be done for the readers' perspective and their easy understanding, not for translators' preference Reference: http://search.naver.com/search.naver?sm=tab_hty.top&where=ne...
