Science - الماشية \ تربية الحيوان / toxicity | | أنجليزي مصطلح أو جملة: 20 dams per dose | It is a toxicological study on a medicinal substance. In the section "Experimental Design", this phrase appears. Dam could be damage... but I don´t think it would be that translation in this context.

dam is the female of an animal species(usually a mother).So I'd say that here we have experimental (treated) groups composed by 20 female (and possibly pregnant) individuals each. I've often encountered such expressions in research work (e.g. the so called "dominant lethal" method in toxicology).
