growth / shoot / growing season Explanation: I think we can bring the two meanings closer together if we remember that the underlying meaning of 'pousse' is 'growth' — and by extension, 'that which occurs during a growing season'. So if Asker considers the very first instance as 'shoot' ('that which grows') and thereafter as 'growing season', it all falls into place quite nicely. |
