This phrase appears in a bank guarantee. The whole paragraph is:
"La présente garantie entre en vigueur le jour du versement au fournisseur de l'acompte de XX € et cesse de produire effet au paiement du solde des fournitures et/ou prestations réceptionnées définitivement et sans réserve. Au-delà de cette date, le présent engagement cesse de produire ses effets, qu'il nous ait été ou non restitué.
I'm a bit puzzle as to what the "il" refers to. Does it refer to the "engagement"? And if so, what would be the best way of translating "restitué" in this context?

شرح: what puzzles me is "nous" in "nous ait été restitué". In French "restituer un engagement" means to cancel/terminate a commitment/agreement. But "restituer un engagement **à quelqu'un**" (to someone), well, I can't figure it out in your context. Could there be a typo?
