Gola di lupo is certainly used as a synonym of Bocca di lupo, i.e. an outward opening light with stays, normally referred to in English as a hopper. However, I believe the correct definition is the narrow slit windows in fortified buildings, used for firing at the enemy, which are known as Loopholes or Arrow loops.

http://www.circolomaddalena.net/daneo/approfondimento.htm

"Loophole - Narrow, tall opening, wallslit for light, air, or shooting through".
http://www.castlesontheweb.com/glossary.html

I also found this, though it doesn't help find an English equivalent:

Peter Cox: Not sure! In the Rome area Russell a "Bocca di lupo" is a basement window - i.e. an opening in the basement wall with a pit outside covered by a grill to allow the ingress of ligh/air

-> Thanks Peter; my definition is obviously too narrow, though I doubt there's an English term for the broader meaning!
