Medical - Medical (general) / physical examination
Italian term or phrase: batraciano
This is from a physical examination report for a hospitalized patient with lung cancer and lymph node metastases:

"All'obiettivita' addome batraciano, trattabile, con TEC ottuso diffusamente ..."

I find an online Italian definition of this, which is a clear description but doesn't help me to think of a specific term: "In medicina, di addome voluminoso e svasato ai fianchi, e quindi di aspetto simile a quello della rana."

I do find "batrachian" abdomen online, but very instances of this. How would we translate "batraciano" in this context (what would be the standard term)?

ascites
Explanation:
ascitis

Explanation:
You could also say: ascites (batrachian abdomen), to maintain the reference to the abdomen shape.
I've also seen frog shaped abdomen (http://www.mouthulcer.net/info/2975365.html) or frog like abdomen contour (http://ceo.medword.net/?signs=achondroplasia-infant-2). However, as batrachian abdomen, they are not very common terms.

Ciao EleoE. I think Ascites is what is implied, but the term describes the bulging flanks (svasato ai fianch).

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you for commenting and suggesting an answer... however, that's not it; there's more to this addome batraciano because of the bulging of the flanks.

addome batraciano
distended, swollen abdomen

Explanation:
These are the words which are commonly used for a "bulging" abdomen, be it by gas or by ascites. I am not aware of a term referring specifically to ascites, to a frog aspect, or to a distension reaching out more to the sides than to the front.

not really bulging then....

Addome batraciano
