laxity of the joints Explanation: Czym jest dysplazja stawów biodrowych? Dysplazją stawów biodrowych nazywamy wrodzone wadliwe ukształtowanie się stawu biodrowego. Najczęściej przejawia się to tym, że panewka stawu biodrowego jest nieodpowiednio wykształcona, za płytka i za mała, aby dokładnie objąć głowę kości udowej, która ma tendencję do odchylania się na zewnątrz i może przemieszczać się poza staw. Najbardziej nasilonym stadium dysplazji jest zwichnięcie stawu biodrowego. Wada może dotyczyć jednego stawu biodrowego lub obu. Każdy noworodek ma nieco płytsze i bardziej stromo ustawione panewki, a szyjka i kości udowe mają większe przodoskręcenie i większy kąt koślawości. Cechy te, choć nie dają żadnych objawów klinicznych, zmniejszają zwartość stawów biodrowych. Przy większym nasileniu tych cech tzw. fizjologiczna dysplazja może przekształcić się w patologiczną.
