Legal translator & interpreter living in Germany since 2007, in business since July 1993. Portuguese from Brazil only. (Here is an article I wrote about the significant differences between Brazilian Portuguese and European/Iberian Portuguese.)


Qualified in the UK (DipTrans English>Portuguese), Germany (staatlich geprüfter Übersetzer für Portugiesisch, staatlich geprüfter Dolmetscher für Portugiesisch) and Brazil (Técnico em Tradutor-Intérprete inglês<>português).


Absolutely committed to continuing professional development as a translator and interpreter. Attended many seminars and conferences - including the ATA Annual Conference, BDÜ-Fachkonferenz, BP, Fachkonferenz Sprache und Recht and memoQfest. Also held presentations at several of those. Winner of the "1st Annual ProZ.com Translation Contest" (2008) for both my main language combinations: English to Brazilian Portuguese and German to Brazilian Portuguese. Former member of the CertifiedPRO Network (membership lapsed after I decided not to be a paying member of this website anymore).


Wrote two guidebooks for Portuguese translators: Fidus Interpres (2010) and Guia do Tradutor (2013), both with an accompanying translation blog. Also wrote a number of articles on translation, terminology and translation technology for journals and magazines in the US, Germany and Brazil.


Non-fiction book translator since 2002, with several book translations published in Brazil in the fields of philosophy, law, sociology and psychology.


Advanced user of leading CAT tools memoQ translator pro, SDL Trados Studio and Wordfast Pro. The latter is currently my preferred CAT tool. I am not willing to work with other translation environment tools, especially proprietary ones and those that are online-based.


Sworn translator and court interpreter in Germany and the owner of Lingua Brasilis Übersetzungsbüro Fabio Said, a language services provider specialising in legal translation and interpreting for direct clients only (not available for translation companies, other translators/interpreters and middlemen).
