Source text - Italian Fusione in bronzo a patina scura in forma di incensiere circolare poggiante su tre piedi. I due lati dell'oggetto, definiti dai solidi manici, recano due cartigli lobati contenenti iscrizioni in arabo. Marchio a sei caratteri Hu WenMing (realizzato da Hu Wenming di Yunjian) sulla base. Altri incensieri firmati dallo stesso artista sono stati venduti da Christie's e da Sotheby's (cfr. Christie's London, May 13th 2011, asta 6162, lot 1039).
Translation - English Bronze cast with dark patina in the shape of a circular censer resting on three feet. The two sides of the item, defined by the robust handles, show two lobed cartouches containing inscriptions in Arabic. Hu Wen Ming six characters brand (made by Hu Wenming of Yunjian) on the base. Other censers signed by the same artist were sold by Christie’s and Sotheby’s (cf. Christie’s London, May 13, 2011, auction 6162, lot 1039).

Source text - Italian Nell'altra Cappella di famiglia – la “Sacrestia Vecchia”, con Brunelleschi e Donatello – Michelangiolo trovò il prototipo della sua soluzione: una precisa geometria generativa, una scatola muraria precisamente proporzionata, materializzata alla maniera brunelleschiana, con le linee di forza – le membrature - in pietra serena e le specchiature delle pareti in intonaco: al secondo registro sono inserite delle finestre con timpano, nelle arcate di imposta della cupola ancora una finestra del timpano curvilineo; nei pennacchi dei tondi in pietra serena a ricordare gl'inserti robbiani della Sacrestia Vecchia e della Cappella Pazzi; le pareti, al registro a terra, hanno una severa modellazione (con depressioni), ad ospitare le statue. Occorre ricordare che il progetto originario prevedeva altri gruppi scultorei e, in particolare delle allegorie fluviali (di cui resta un bozzetto a Casa Buonarroti).
Translation - English In the Old Sacristy, by Brunelleschi and Donatello, Michelangelo found the prototype of his solution: a precise generative geometry, a precisely proportioned structure based on the works of Brunelleschi, with a framework in pietra serena (a type of sandstone) and whitewashed wall panels. The second level presents windows with tympanum, and in the skewback arches of the dome another window with a curvilinear tympanum. The pendentives are decorated with stone tondos in pietra serena which recall the ones by Luca della Robbia in the Old Sacristy and the Pazzi Chapel. The walls at ground level are modeled with niches, originally meant to hold statues. It should be remembered that the original project included more sculptural groups, in particular fluvial allegories (an example of which still exists in the form of a sketch in the Casa Buonarroti).
