Bio
I have recently been given the opportunity to become registered with the NHS as an interpreter for the Bristol Royal Infirmary, which will allow me to pursue my chosen career, Public Sector Interpreter in the Health pathway, since I successfully carried out my exams a year ago.

I consider I have the ideal background to carry out the role of interpreter/translator; particularly given my 13-year experience in Nursing for the NHS and given that I have been a UK resident since 1993 after growing up in Spain. During the past 24 years I have become a fully integrated member of my community and have immersed myself in the British culture through my nursing career, volunteer experiences and other community involvement; I understand the nuances of the English language as well as a native. I therefore consider myself fully proficient in both Spanish and English, which was paramount to my success in the Public Service Interpreting exam. Based on my results and my long-term residency, I am confident I can provide the accuracy required for this role.

The skill set and human experience that my Nursing career has provided me is my best asset when faced with the challenges that Interpreting in the healthcare setting can bring. I have a highly professional manner and understand the importance of adhering to a code of conduct, respecting confidentiality at all times, and maintaining an impartial position whilst remaining empathetic. The level of responsibility that I held in my nursing career is also testimony of my ability to carry out particularly sensitive translating and interpreting tasks when they arise.
I believe my first hand experience in the various health care settings during my career, nursing training, and my volunteering experience have also given me a broad spectrum of understanding of the different settings and specialities I may be involved in as an interpreter in the medical field. I have also been able to participate in interpreting in different settings for friends/friend's relatives both in the Uk and in Spain and I have helped translate business websites for friends.

I would describe my personal attributes as naturally empathic, approachable and personable, whilst confident and professional at all times. I also take pride in my accuracy and attention to detail in my translating and interpreting skills, always ensuring it is as true to the original as possible.

I am very much looking forward to offering my services as an Interpreter and to develop further in the field as I feel I have the right educational and professional qualities to be able to contribute to your Interpreting requirements.
