Proz and one other. I find they help me to find new clients in approximately equal numbers.

ProZ. I just renewed, but it could be the last time. Despite promises that the standard package is not going to get more expansive, the fact that 1. Browniz can no longer be used 2. membership is paid in USD only - does make it a lot more expansive for me. So I'll see and think over it this year and may stop it if I see no ROI.

Proz. I may or may not renew membership at the end of this month.... ROI? LOL. I only pay for membership so that I can look at the jobs posted and have a laugh at the poor rates usually offered. I'm lucky enough not to need to find new clients (in fact, quite the contrary), so the only thing I get here is a bit of brainstorming via kudoz and the odd bit of forum help.

Like Neil I have been in the lucky position of not needing new clients (I must say though that some have come through Proz.com directory). I have been an active member since 2007 but I don’t know if I will renew my membership or not when the time comes as I am increasingly dissatisfied with Proz.com…
This one and the CIoL | Jan 12, 2017 |
A few good clients have found me through the CIoL site, but most came indirectly through the network that grew from Proz.com, or directly through the site. Generally the best jobs come from networking. I think in nearly 14 years, I have only done one job that was posted openly on the job boards, although I have very rarely had time to bid for many of them. The client did not come back, I suspect because he rarely had any jobs in my languages, but he paid a good rate, and on time. ... It is a pity the best jobs are 'invisible' except to the translators directly concerned! The rates I actually earn are far better than those generally visible on the site. Meeting colleagues is also very important in my opinion - I gladly subscribe, even though I am not looking for new clients. ▲ Collapse

Proz.com, because the other sites tend to copy Proz.com format and repost jobs. In previous years, I was a user of other sites, but didn't notice any advantage.

Ok, let's suppose the question is "In how many translation sites are you a paying member?". I wish I was a "paid" member of 1000 sites, but I am only a paying member of a few. Translationwise, I only pay for one site - ProZ. However, I also pay MemoQ's yearly fee, which allows me to use their site and cloud, and for Payment Practices. So considering these two are related to translation, I marked 2-3.
