Bio
Dear all,
I have always loved studying languages. I first started in school, when I was a child, and later had the opportunity to improve and learn new languages by studying and living abroad. First Italy, Parma and Venice, then Brussels (Belgium) and later Madrid (Spain).
As a project manager in an international consultancy company, one of my tasks was to translate project proposals to EU and other international donors, as well as implementation and monitoring reports from Spanish to English, and I guess that was when I first fell in love with translation.
That passion was followed through when I had the opportunity to work for an international academic journal and later, when working as an university professor, I was invited by a publishing house to translate 2 books.
Finally, my interest in working with languages was also fulfilled by teaching English to children and Portuguese to foreigners.
Through the professional path I have just described, I believe I have acquired a great deal of experience and translation relevant skills such as accuracy and attention to detail, capacity to work under tight deadlines, organization, discipline, excellent writing skills in my native language as well as excellent reading and comprehension skills in the source languages I work with, and, lastly, ability to transfer style, tone and cultural elements accurately from one language to another.
So, here I am, pursuing my wish to continue working in a profession for which I am completely in love with.
