I've done volunteer translation English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English for national websites. I've been a member of language-learning sites for English and German, and recreational sites in English, German, and Russian. I can understand most of spoken German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Yiddish, and with difficulty Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, Czech, Polish, Russian, Romanian, Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish. Presently I'm taking up Mandarin Chinese for the first time seriously. I've been an amateur linguist for 50 years and have a strong grasp of professional linguistics in the Germanic, Romance, Slavic, and Semitic languages.
