On a mango tree in a jungle, there lived many birds. They were happy in their small nests. Before the onset of the rainy season, all the animal of the jungle repaired their homes. The birds also made their homes more secure.
Many birds brought twigs and leaves and others wove their nests. “We should also store some food for our children," chirped one of the birds. And they collected food, until they had enough to see them through the rainy season. They kept themselves busy preparing for the tough times.
Soon the rains came. It was followed by thunder and lighting. All the animals and birds stayed in their homes.
It continued raining for many days. One day, a monkey wet in the rain came into the forest. He sat on a branch, shivering with cold, water dripping from its body.
The poor monkey tried his best to get shelter, but in vain. The leaves were not enough to save him from the rains. “Brrr! It is so cold!" said the monkey.
The birds were watching all this. They felt sorry for the monkey but there was little they could do for him. One of them said, “Brother! Our small nests are not enough to give you shelter."
Another bird said, “All of us prepared for the rainy season. If you had, you would not be in this piteous situation."
“How dare you tell me what to do?" said the monkey, growling at the bird. The monkey angrily pounced on the bird’s nest, tore it and threw it on the ground. The bird and her chicks were helpless.
The poor bird thought, “Fools never value”.

Ang “Pagpayo Sa Isang Hangal” ay isang maikling kuwento na kinagigiliwan ng karamihan. Nawa`y inyong magustuhan ang maikling kuwentong ito.
May isang puno ng mangga na nakatirik sa gubat kung saan doon nakatira ang mga ibon. Sila ay masayang namumuhay sa kanilang mga pugad. Bago sumapit ang tag-ulan, lahat ng hayop sa gubat ay abala sa pagkukumpuni sa kani-kanilang bahay. Isa na doon ang mga ibon na masigasig na gumagawa ng masisilungang bahay.
May mga ibon ang nagdala ng mga sanga at dahon habang ang iba ay gumawa ng pugad. “Dapat din tayong mag-imbak ng pagkain para sa ating mga anak”, sabi ng isang ibon. Kaya tulong-tulong sila sa paghahanap ng pagkain hanggang sa may sapat na pagkain silang inimbak para sa tag-ulan. Lahat ay abalang-abala sa paghahanda sa pagdating ng tag-ulan.
Sumapit na ang tag-ulan. Nakakabinging kulog at kidlat ay umaalingawngaw sa bawat sulok ng gubat. Lahat ng mga hayop at ibon ay nanatili sa kani-kanilang bahay.
Hindi tumigil ang ulan ng ilang araw. Isang araw, may isang matsing na basang-basa na napadpad sa gubat. Umupo siyang nanginginig sa isang nakausling sanga. Ang kanyang katawan ay naninigas sa sobrang lamig ng ulan.
Ginawa niya ang lahat para makahanap ng masisilungan ngunit siya ay bigo. Ang dahon ay hindi sapat para iligtas siya sa patuloy na pagpatak ng ulan sa kanyang katawan. “Brrr! Ang lamig!” sabi ng matsing.
Nasaksihan ng lahat ng mga ibon ang sinapit ni matsing. Nakaramdam sila ng awa pero wala silang magawa para ito ay saklolohan. Isa sa mga ibon ang nagsabi, “Kapatid! Ang maliit naming pugad ay hindi sapat na iyong silungan.”
Sumunod na nagsalita ang isang ibon, “Pinaghandaan naming lahat ang tag-ulan. Hindi mo sana sasapitin ang ganito kung pinaghandaan mo rin ang iyong masisilungan.”
“Sino ba kayo para sabihan ako ng kung ano ang gawin ko?” sagot ng umuungol na matsing. Ang matsing ay galit na sinagpang at sinira ang mga pugad at ito ay ibinato sa lupa. Ang mga ibon ay walang nagawa.
Naisip na lang ng mga kawawang ibon, “Hindi dapat pinapahalagahan ang mga hangal.”
