XXX is mainly running international projects. During these projects different project roles like account manager, project leader, developer etc. are often located on different continents. This leads to a very high complexity for the whole project handling. Also the areas of resource planning, work hour capturing and budget control are effected by this complexity.
For work hour capturing and resource planning, XXX is using currently a very old system bases on Microsoft Access. This system is not expandable anymore and is no longer fulfilling the requirements of a modern global going company.
Since the roll out of the current system the structure of the company has changed a lot. These organizational changes caused changes to the business processes which have an impact on the requirements of the system. Therefore the actual business processes should be documented before evaluating a concrete new system. Afterwards these processes should be analyzed with regard to already planned process changes and general optimization potentials. These to-be processes should also be documented. Finally the concrete requirements for a new system will be collected from these to-be scenarios.
The definite evaluation of a new system will finally be carried out based on a catalog of requirements. These evaluation in not part of this thesis anymore.
Goal
The goal of this thesis is to develop and document a catalog of requirements for the new ERP-system which afterwards has to be implemented.
To generate the catalog of requirements as a target goal, first all current business processes which are relevant for the new system have to be documented, analyzed, optimized and the resulting target processes also should be documented. From this process documentation the catalog of requirements finally will be captured and documented.
Translation - German Aufgabenstellung
XXX wickelt zunehmend internationale Projekte ab. Dabei kommt es nicht selten vor, dass in einem Projekt unterschiedliche Rollen wie z.B. Kundenbetreuer, Projektleiter, Entwickler, etc. auf mehrere Kontinente verteilt sind. Dies führt zu einer sehr hohen Komplexität bzgl. der gesamten Projektabwicklung. Davon betroffen ist auch der Bereich der Stundenerfassung, Abrechnung und Ressourcenplanung.
XXX setzt derzeit für die Stundenerfassung und Ressourcenplanung ein sehr veraltetes System auf der Basis von Microsoft Access ein. Dieses System ist nicht mehr ausbaufähig und entspricht nicht mehr den Anforderungen eines modernen global agierenden Unternehmens.
Seit der Einführung des bestehenden Systems hat sich die Struktur des Unternehmens stark verändert. Daraus resultieren Veränderungen an den Geschäftsprozessen, die sich auf die Anforderungen an das System auswirken. Es sollen daher vor der konkreten Evaluierung eines neuen Systems zunächst die aktuellen Geschäftsprozesse dokumentiert werden. Anschließend soll eine Analyse dieser Prozesse im Hinblick auf bereits geplante Prozessänderungen und generelle Optimierungsmöglichkeiten erfolgen. Diese Soll- Prozesse sollen ebenfalls dokumentiert werden. Aus den Soll-Prozessen werden dann abschließend die konkreten Anforderungen für ein neues System abgeleitet.
Die endgültige Evaluierung eines neuen Systems erfolgt schließlich mittels des Anforderungskataloges, ist aber nicht mehr Gegenstand dieser Arbeit.
Zielstellung
Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, einen Anforderungskatalog für das neu zu implementierende ERP-System zu erarbeiten und zu dokumentieren.
Um den Anforderungskatalog als Endziel entwickeln zu können, sind zunächst alle für das neue System relevanten aktuellen Geschäftsprozesse zu dokumentieren, zu analysieren, zu optimieren und die daraus resultierenden Soll-Prozesse ebenfalls zu dokumentieren.
Aus dieser Prozessdokumentation wird schließlich der Anforderungskatalog abgeleitet und dokumentiert.

As a professional with more than 14 years experience in IT development, project management and consulting, I am now working as a self-employed contractor and freelance translator. I hope to be able to utilize my experience and skills for new and interesting projects in this area.
As most of my IT projects were international projects and I always had team members who were not able to understand German, I am used to work in an English speaking environment. This means that my English knowledge is excellent and I would like to use these skills also in my future business.
My areas of expertise are localization of IT systems (frond-end, user manual, training material, administration and developing guidelines etc.), translation of marketing material, translation of thesis with IT topics, presentation slides, newspaper articles, technical manuals, technical patents.
Although my specialist field is information technology and related areas, I gained over the years also a lot of experience in other areas. While working as an IT consultant, my customers where mainly from the financial sector, from different car manufacturers and from the marketing area. As I always had to understand the business of my customers, I am also familiar with these areas.
As a project manager I am used to focus on quality and timelines and I am very client oriented. I believe, that these qualities in conjunction with my technical and language skills, are a good basis for a translator you are looking for.
