A multiple generator power generation plant requires the units to “make bulk” – that is firstly synchronized with each other before large loads can be connected. From a cost perspective, it makes little difference whether we make bulk at 6.6kV (kilo volts), 11kV or even 33kV. By selecting a higher voltage, one opens the door for energy distribution over longer distances without facing the burden of significant transmission losses and/or the need for large conductor transmission lines. It is for this reason that we elected a 33kV) solution at the AMC Mine.
