Uhm, as a matter of fact my translation is FROM English TO Italian, but the problem is (or rather was), that the concept of a Company accrediting a university professor is still beyond me, but I don't care since all I have to do is translate, not understand.

I do understand the problem. " there is no such thing as a professor accredited by a company in our university system" . I presume you mean the Italian university system. But such professorships exist in the US and the UK. And since your translation is from Italian into English, I can't see what the problem is.

Tom, the problem is that there is no such thing as a professor accredited by a company in our university system, at least as far as I know. Nor do I understand how can a private company accredit a professor, i.e. what does accredited, in this peculiar sense, mean?
I do not want to sound rude, but just because you don't see the problem, doesn't actually mean that there is none ;)

Io la leggo così. Ho visto il discuss e in effetti non credo sia molto normale nel nostro ordinamento, però ad esempio:

Ora, in entrambi i casi da me indicati si tratta di enti legati alla formazione, quindi la cosa è più "normale".
Ma penso al fatto che, in caso di settori estremamente specialistici, possa essere una società specializzata in un certo settore ad accreditare.

Ad esempio, nell'ipotesi di una cattedra per specialisti di elettroerosione, il docente non potrebbe essere un ingegnere con alle spalle (o in corso) anni di bagaglio alla AgieCharmilles S.p.A. che è un colosso del settore?

Essendo la multinaz. legata con trattino, ovviamente può rendere possibile l'interpretazione che il prof. ci lavori e che nello stesso tempo sia pure accreditatopresso l'università, secondo il mio parere.
