Bio
Chelo Vargas Sierra, earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Translation and Interpreting and a PhD in Translation from University of Alicante (UA). She has also completed doctoral courses in Computer Applications at the same university, and earned her Master’s Degree in Terminology from Institute for Applied Linguistics (IULA, Pompeu Fabra University).

She is a Senior Lecturer at University of Alicante and teaches Translation, Terminology and CAT Tools in Graduate and Postgraduate courses (UA, University Jaume I, Castellón, IULA). She has also given international seminars at the European Commission in Brussels and Luxembourg, Universidad Nacional in Costa Rica, Universidad Ricardo Palma (Perú), Colegio de Traductores (Professional Translators’ Association) in Perú, Universidad Autónoma (Regional Autonomous University) of Manizales (Colombia), Coventry University (UK) and University of Applied Sciences of Salzburg (Austria).

Her main lines of research for which she has both published several articles and participated in seminars and conferences are: terminology, terminography, corpus linguistics, specialized translation and computer-aided translation.

(2010): Lenguas de especialidad y terminología, Granada: Comares); “La estación de trabajo del terminólogo: recursos para la combinatoria terminológica” (Puente, 2010); the co-edition of Intercultural Business Communication and Simulation and Gaming Methodology (2009), award-winner of one Enrique Alcaraz Research Award, from AELFE in 2010, the article “Exploring state-of-the-art software for authorship identification” (in International Journal of English Studies, IJES, 2008). Other publications: Diccionario de términos de la piedra natural e industrias afines (inglés-español; español-inglés) (2005) and Diccionario de términos del calzado e industrias afines (inglés-español; español-inglés) (2006), published by Ariel.
