The irradiation chamber consists of a sample cavity in which a sample tray sits. The ***sample cavity*** is within the hinged sample chamber door. The door swings out from the body of the unit to allow convenient, safe, and easy access to the sample tray.
The ***sample tray***, which is held in the sample chamber, has three ventilation access ports that align with ventilation access ports in the main shield. Three stainless steel access tubes lead into the sample cavity. Used for instrumentation, two of these tubes pass through the sample chamber door. The remaining tube passes through the fixed shield and is used for chamber ventilation.
