[Excuse the lack of accents; this doc is a pdf]
Le dispositif de cryptage de securite recoit les codes hotes correspondant a l'ensemble des terminaux d'ordinateurs hotes a distance. Cette INJECTION se fait dans un environnement securisee.
I found references to "code injection", but according to the references I found and the Wikipedia definition, that seems to be a bad thing and I'm therefore not sure how to translate "injection" in this sense. Would simply saying "injection" be correct, or is there a better way; "input" or "insertion", maybe? This system is a security system for encoding PINs input in automatic payment devices at gas stations.

You're correct in thinking that "code injection" is a bad thing. However, your text seems to be referring to "key injection", as described on these pages:
http://www.mainstreetinc.net/encryption.html
"Encryption/Key Injection Services"
http://www.futurex.com/products/ski_series.cfm
"The Excrypt™ SKI Series Secure Key Injector injects keys into PIN Entry Devices (PED's)."
http://www.posdata.com/service_staging.html
"POSDATA has successfully performed tens of thousands of secure key injections. Our state-of-the-art key injection facility maintains complete integrity throughout the entire process, giving our customers total security confidence."
Try googling "key injection" and you get a bunch of hits, many referring to PINs.
(On another note, you say the system "encodes" PINs. Does it encode or encrypt? These are two very different words that are often incorrectly confused. I would be very distrustful of any security-related system that merely encodes data.)

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer.
Comment: "Thanks for your excellent explanation, Jennifer, as well as the "encoding" vs. "encryption" tip. As you pointed out, this document too uses the terms somewhat interchangeably (though encryption predominates); moreover, they stated that they are using them interchangeably, so I just followed suit in the translation. I will go ahead and award the points because I have to turn this in tonight."

Somewhat of a guess, but seems logical in this context
