Tip dieback/burn Thanks, John. It was a great help. I googled and found dieback to be very popular. Quite a specialised term.

Yes, it was me who added tip burn to my own answer; both are used by botanists, horticulturalists, agricultural researchers, etc.

Tip dieback generates many google hits for various plants and crops, in connection with copper deficiency and other diseases/nutrient deficiencies as well.
