Source text - English Can we wait a little
till that noise goes by?
Now we can begin.
We were going to talk about,
weren't we,
if we can live in this world,
which is pretty insane,
if it is possible
to live without conflict.
And we have
accustomed ourselves
to make
every kind of effort,
to achieve,
not only biologically
but also externally.
Our society
is so constructed
that we have to make
tremendous effort
to have a vocation...
of imitation.
Can we talk
to each other quietly?
We are saying
that our society
is made
so that each one of us
have to make great
deal of effort
to have a job,
to have a career,
to accumulate money
for security, and so on
– a great deal of effort
is necessary,
school, college,
university, and so on.
And also
we have the concept
that inwardly we also
must make tremendous effort.
Effort implies control,
effort implies conflict,
inwardly, psychologically,
and outwardly.
To this state of things
we have become accustomed.
Religious people, business people
of every kind must make effort.
And in that effort there is involved
a great deal of energy,
in conflict, and so on.
We are going
to talk over together
– what a noisy place this is,
isn't it? –
we are going to talk over
together this question,
why we live in conflict,
why we have accustomed
ourselves to live in this way,
why human beings,
right throughout the world,
have not found a way
of living daily life
without all the turmoil,
all the anxiety, pain.
And we are trained in vocation,
which is imitation.
One can understand why we have
to make an effort externally.
In an overpopulated country
like this,
badly managed governments,
and so on,
we have to make an effort
to live, to have a job.
That's understood.
And we are asking why,
we human beings,
have to make inward effort.
In that is implied
control, conflict,
and various forms of struggle,
anxiety, and so on.
We are questioning
why human beings
have to make inward effort
at all,
have inward,
psychological conflict.
Is that question clear?
We are asking, is it necessary
for human beings
in their relationship
with each other
– because we cannot possibly
live alone,
even though you are a hermit
you are always related to somebody.
So, we are asking whether it is
possible to live in this world
of immense turmoil,
immense complexity externally,
whether we can live
without a single conflict. Right?
That is the question
we are going to ask.
The speaker is not asking
the question, you are asking,
because both of us are
taking the journey together.
If that is very clear,
we are, both of us
are going to enquire carefully
into this question.
As we said
yesterday evening,
we are not giving
a lecture, thank God !
Lecture implies giving you certain
information on a particular subject,
to instruct, to inform or to do
any kind of propaganda.
We are not doing
any kind of propaganda.
We are not trying to convince you
of anything. Right?

थोडा शोर-गुल थम जाए ?
अब शुरू कर सकते हैं |
तो हम बात करने जा रहे थे,
नही क्या,
क्या हम इस संसार में ज़िन्दा रह सकते हैं,
जो एकदम पागल है,
क्या यह मुमकिन है,
बिना टकराव के जीना |
और हमने
आदत डाल ली है खुद को
कुछ न कुछ
करते रहने की,
कुछ हासिल करने के लिए
सिर्फ जिस्मानी तौर पर नहीं
बल्कि बाहरी तौर पर भी |
हमारा समाज ही
ऐसा बना है
की हमें बहुत मेहनत
करनी पडती है
किसी काम-धंधे के लिए...
दूसरों की नकल |
क्या हम शांति से
बात कर सकते हैं ?
हम कह रहे हैं
कि हमारा समाज
ऐसा है कि
हर किसी को
बहुत मेहनत
करनी पड़ती है
नौकरी के लिए,
आजीविका के लिए,
पैसा जोड़ने के लिए
सुरक्षा की खातिर, और भी
बहुत कोशिश करना
लाजिमी है,
स्कूल, कालेज,
युनिवर्सटी वगैरह |
और ये भी
हमारे मन में धारणा है
कि आंतरिक तौर पर भी
हमे ज़ोर लगाना ही होगा |
कोशिश का मतलब है कंट्रोल,
कोशिश यानि टकराव,
भीतर, मानसिक तल पर,
और बाहर भी |
इन सब बातों के
हम आदि हो गए हैं |
धार्मिक लोग, हर तरह के व्यापारी
सब कोशशों में लगे हैं |
और ऐसी कोशिशों में बहुत
ऊर्जा खर्च होती है,
टकराव वगैरह में |
हम इस पर
बात करने जा रहे हैं
कितना शोर है यहाँ,
नहीं ?
हम इस मुद्दे पर
मिल कर बात करेंगे,
क्यों हम टकराव में जीते हैं,
क्यूँ हम आदी हो गए हैं
इस तरह जीने के,
क्यूँ आदमी,
सारी दुनिया में,
कोई तरीका नहीं ढूंढ पाए
ज़िंदगी जीने का
बिना किसी खलबली के,
बिना किसी चिंता और पीड़ा के |
कम-धन्दों में हम माहिर हो जाते हैं
जो कि नकल ही है |
हम समझ सकते हैं कि क्यों बाहरी
तल पर कोशिश करना ज़रूरी है |
बेहद घनी-आबादी वाले देश में,
जैसा कि ये है,
अस्त-व्यस्त सरकारें,
और ये सब,
हमें कोशिश करनी पडती है
जीने के लिए, नौकरी के लिए |
समझ में आता है |
लेकिन हम पूछ रहे हैं;
क्यों हम सब लोगों को
भीतर भी कोशिश करनी पडती है |
जिसमे शामिल है
कंट्रोल, टकराव,
तरह-तरह का संघर्ष,
चिंताएं, पता नहीं क्या-क्या
हम पूछ रहे हैं
क्यों मानव जाति को
भीतर भी कोशिश करनी पड़ती है
जरा सी भी,
क्यों भीतर
मानसिक टकराव है |
क्या सवाल स्पष्ट है ?
हम पूछ रहे हैं, क्या यह लाज़िमी
है कि आदमी लोग
अपने सबंधों में
एक-दूसरे के साथ
-क्योंकि अकेले जीना
संभव नहीं,
चाहे आप कोई सन्यासी ही हों
किसी ना किसी से जुड़े होते हैं |
तो हम पूछ रहे हैं कि क्या
इस दुनिया में ऐसे जीना संभव है
जहाँ ज़बरदस्त गड़बड़ी है,
बेहद उलझाव हैं,
क्या हम जी सकते हैं
बिना एक भी टकराव के | समझे ?
यही सवाल हम
पूछने जा रहे हैं |
वक्ता नहीं पूछ रहा है
ये सवाल, आप पूछ रहे हैं,
क्योंकि हम दोनों ही
साथ-साथ चल रहे हैं |
अगर यह स्पष्ट है तो,
हम, दोनों ही
बड़ी सावधानी से ये छान-बीन करने जा रहे
इस सारे मुद्दे की |
जैसा कि कल शाम
हमने कहा,
हम यहाँ कोई
लेक्चर नहीं दे रहे, शुक्र है !
लेक्चर का मतलब होता है किसी
खास विषय पर कुछ जानकारी देना,
कोई हिदायत, सूचना, या किसी
तरह का कोई प्रापेगंडा |
हम कोई प्रापेगंडा
नहीं कर रहे |
हम को कुछ मनवाने की
