Indonesian to English: Case Study of Translation Regarding English Penetration of Individuals with Visual Disabilities
Source text - Indonesian Sebelum saya mulai berbicara mengenai penetrasi bahasa Inggris terhadap penyandang disabilitas tunanetra, saya ingin memberikan opini saya sebagai seorang guru. Pelajar tunanetra memang mendapati kesulitan dalam mempelajari bahasa asing, karena penglihatan manusia adalah kekuatan utama dalam mempelajari bahasa. Jika tidak ada penglihatan, peserta didik tunanetra akan mengandalkan pendengaran yang tersisa dan umpan balik sensoris dalam proses belajar mereka. Dalam hal pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa, setidaknya ada dua kendala mendasar bagi para pelajar tunanetra.
Translation - English Before I start talking about the English penetration towards persons with disabilities, especially the visually impaired people, I want to give my opinion as a teacher. Visually impaired learners will encounter difficulties in learning foreign languages, because human eyesight is the main driving force for language learning. If there is no vision, visually impaired learners will rely on the remaining auditory and sensory feedback in their learning process. In terms of teaching and learning languages, there are at least two basic obstacles for visually impaired learners.
