To what extent did Roman art influence the Early Christian representation of Jesus post-Constantinian?

What grasps one’s attention is the role art played in the Christianisation of the Roman Empire. It began as a small “rebellious” religious community’s resistance to subordinating to a hierarchy, affirming their religious identity whilst going through persecution. This was as their monotheistic principles attacked the traditional polytheistic beliefs. However, after the recognition of Christianity as an official religion, images began to adapt into various interpretations of the faith.

Moreover, the early years of Christian art often show Christ’s feminine attributes. Mathews argues that the lack of discussion on the femininity of Christ presented in early Christian iconography gives an unbalanced discourse on the field of study. The depiction of Christ’s long hair, full beardless cheeks, and bust, along with body language e.g. riding side-saddle, is something surprisingly common and unquestioned.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND COMMENTS
Child z is a keen learner. She has always listened during carpet sessions and has become increasingly verbally engaged. Her speech has come very far, and she now comfortably puts her hand up throughout the lessons and is capable of responding with a relevant answer. She has also become a lot more verbal throughout the day, with both adults and children in the class, as well as speaking with new adults that visit our classroom.
Child z is very helpful. She will go out of her way to tidy the class and let teachers know if another child is hurt or in need.
In maths, Child z has developed consistently well. She recognises numbers, shapes and is able to make bigger numbers from smaller numbers (addition). She has very good memory and is able to retain information very well. Child z has come extremely far in her phonics! She is now reading simple sentences independently and we are all so extremely proud of her!
It’s been a pleasure being your teacher this year, Child z, and I know you’ll do fabulous in year 1! You surely have a bright future ahead of you!

وهي في تطوّر مستمر بالنسبة إلى الرياضيات، تتعرف على الأرقام والأشكال وتستطيع أيضًا أن تُخرج الأرقام الكبيرة من الأرقام الصغيرة (الجمع). لديها ذاكرة قوية جدًا يمكّنها على حفظ المعلومات بسرعة فائقة ما شاء الله،
ز قطعت مسافةً طويلةً في علم الصوتيات!
إنها الآن تقرأ جُملًا قصيرة بمفردها ونحن فخورون جدًا بها!
وبالتالي يا ز! فمن دواعي سروري كوني معلمك في هذا العام، وأنا أعلم بأنك ستحقّقين نجاحًا مبهرًا في السنة الأولى.
