Lizzy, I'm sure it's a slip you'll notice but just in case ... the refurbished buffalo barn isn't a contemporary opera house ... it's an art gallery for contemporary works (probaly would have been better left to the buffalo ...)

I might really just sling the Italian (however poetic it might seem .. duh?) and say it's a "typical Pontine Marshes rural building" o giù di lì....

Hi Lizzy,
I get the impression they want to put across the idea it’s like a piece of history from the period when there was a lot of reclaiming going on (pre-war maybe) that looks like it was dropped into the reclaimed land to remain there and eventually fall into disuse; now reclaimed once again and refurbished to its former, and new glory.
