Thanks for all of you with so much helpful data and explanation to it! Actually, I'm a bit puzzled by it. :) Upon your advices, I decide to adopt definition from Yueyin Sun. After visiting the link above (http://www.hotelcharlotte.com/rooms.html) and watching the pictures, I guess that "adjoining rooms" and "connecting rooms " are used to describe small rooms in a large guestroom, which contains two or more rooms. That sounds a bit reasonable.

又刚看到Carol给出的资料中列着 "Also called 'connecting rooms", 如果这句是 source text 里的原句，那么至少你这份资料里的 adjoining rooms 是连通的。这家旅馆大概是和其余不少旅馆一样将“adjoining rooms" 和 “connecting rooms" 混用了。

Well, 估计是很多旅馆都用词不严格，以至于将adjoining rooms 和connecting rooms 混用了。严格定义还应该是yueyin给的那个权威。

看来对adjoining rooms本身的解释就没有统一标准。如yueyin引用的google的定义说“adjoining rooms . Hotel rooms which, while next to each other, have no connecting doors”, 而如FourSeasons引用的英文，还有很多旅馆给的介绍都说是想通的。

Sounds delicate ... if the actual location of "adjoining room" fit this defination.

相连房间

Adjoining rooms are rooms which are side by side, with an interconnecting door that can be locked. These rooms are used by people (usually family) travelling together. When the demand of rooms is high, hotels often rent these rooms out as normal rooms, all they need to do is to make sure that the interconnecting doors are locked.

相邻房

有门相连的是connecting room, 叫连通房; 无门但比邻的是adjoining room，叫毗邻房/相邻房，不是同一个概念。

更准确的还是叫相连房， Juliazou的解释是对的
