وبين اصوات كل مقام ابعاد متنوعة من المسافات الصوتية مرتبة ترتيبا خاصا بحسب طبيعة المقام ولونه اللحني، وبمعنى اوضح، ان المقامات تتميز عن بعضها بعضا وتتغير الحانها بفعل تغيير المسافات التي بين اصواتها
وعند الافرنج ، لا يوجد سوى نغمتين فقط، الماجور والمينور – تظلان محتفظتين باسمائهما
مهما تغير صوت مستقر كل منهما
اما في موسيقانا الشرقية على العموم والعربية على الخصوص، فالمقامات كثيرة لا يعرف عددها بالضبط، فالبعض يقول انها تبلغ المئات، والبعض يحصرها بخمسة وتسعين مقاما، وقد جاء في بعض كتب العرب انها تبلغ الالف، والفارابي استخرج ما يربو على الالف واربعمائة مقام
والواقع انه يوجد في الموسيقى العربية مقامات اساسية تبلغ من الثلاثين الى الاربعين مقاما استعملت زمنا طويلا في جميع البلاد العربية
اما المقامات الفرعية فقد تبلغ الالف و الالفين و اكثر من ذلك ، وابتكرها العرب يوم ان اتسعت دائرة معرفتهم وتقدموا في العلوم و المدنية, وتبعهم الاتراك في ذلك، وسموا بعضها بالمقامات الفرعية والبعض الاخر بالمقامات الفرعية المركبة.
وقيل انه كان يوجد ما يقارب هذا العدد يوم ان كانت القيان وحدها تحفظ المئات من المقامات المتنوعة من اساسية وفرعية، ولا ريب ان الكثير من هذه المقامات اندثر باندثار تلك العصور الذهبية للموسيقى العربية
وها هي نغمات الفرس تبلغ نحو 360 مقاما يستعمل منها العرب والاتراك الا الان خمسة وتسعين مقاما
والمقامات الفرعية تتشابه في تراكيبها والحانها، وان وجد فرق بينها فهو ضئيل جدا، كما ان
بعض هذه المقامات الفرعية المركبة، تسمى باسماء مختلفة لمقام واحد اي لمسمى واحد.
وقد حلل علماء هذا العصر الكثير من المقامات المتشابهة فوجدوا بان بعضها من فصيلة
واحدة وتركيب واحد وليس فرق بينها الا بمسافتين او مسافتين بين اصواتها مختلفتان قليلا عن بعضها او باستقرارها على طبقات غير التي تستقر عليها في الاصل
ومن يراجع المخطوطات العربية التي توجد في المكتبات الحكومية والاهلية يعثر على الكثير من هذه المقامات المتشابهة لحنا وتركيبا المختلفة الاسماء
ولم تكتشف هذه المقامات المتشابهة الا في سني النهضة الموسيقية الاخيرة.
ترجمة - أنجليزي A maqam is a musical scale founded on an octave which consists of 8 tones, and contains an additional identical octave whose tones mirror the tones in the base octave at a higher pitch, so that a tune can be varied freely using many tones.
The varied distances between tones are called intervals, and these are arranged according to the character of each maqam and its tonal colour. The different ways in which a maqam can be divided into intervals is actually what distinguishes a maqam.
In Western music, there are only two keys: major and minor and are called by these names regardless of the tonic.
As for our Eastern music in general, and Arabic music in particular, there are many maqams, and the exact number is not known, as some say that there are hundreds, and others restrict the number to 95. It was mentioned in some old Arabic books that there are a thousand. Alfarabi identified more than 1400 maqams.
In practice, Arabic music has some basic maqams and these range from 30 to 40 maqams that were used in all Arabic countries for a long time.
As for derived maqams, the number may reach a thousand or two thousand or more. Arabs invented these as their knowledge expanded and their civilisation progressed, then the Ottomans followed them in this tradition, and called some of these maqams derived maqams, and they called others derived composite maqams.
It is said that such a large number of maqams existed since a singer in those times would memorise hundreds of basic and derived maqams. There is no doubt that many of these maqams became extinct as these golden ages of Arabic music faded away.
We also have 360 maqams in Persian music, of which 95 are used in Arabic and Turkish music.
The derived maqams can be very similar to each other in structure and sound, and any differences between them any can be very small. Some of the derived composite maqams have different names for the same maqam.
Modern scholars have analysed many of these maqams and found that some are of the same group, and are different only by one or two intervals which are slightly varied, or in the way that they end on a different tonic.
When we study these Arabic manuscripts which exist in government and civil libraries, we find that many of these maqams have similar structures and melodic flow but have different names.
These similar maqams were only discovered during the later years of the musical renaissance.

تنقل الطاقة الكهربائية إلى مسافات بعيدة بواسطة خطوط التوتر العالي (66، 150، 220، 400، 500 ، 750، 1500 كيلوفولت ...) وبذبذبات صناعية تساوي 50 هرتز. وتمر هذه الخطوط في حالات عديدة على مقربة من بعض المنازل أو من أماكن العمل أو فوق الطرق المزدحمة. الخطير في هذه الخطوط أنها تخلف حقولا مغناطيسية ( وهي اﻷكثر ضررا) وحقولا كهربائية قوية. تكون هذه الحقول قوية جدا تحت الخطوط مباشرة ثم تبدأ بالتلاشي كلما ابتعدنا عن إسقاطها العمودي. فتحت خط ينقل تيارا بقوة 765 كيلوفولت مثلا تكون قوة الحقل المغناطيسي تحته (أي على الأرض) 5 ميكروتسلا. وعلى بعد خمسين مترا من الإسقاط العمودي للخط تكون قيمة الحقل المغناطيسي واحد ميكروتسلا. علما بأن علو خطوط التوتر العالي يعادل حوالي ال 15 مترا.
والحقل الكهربائي أيضا يكون قويا على مقربة من خطوط التوتر العالي فعلى مسافة خمسة أمتار، مثلا، من خطوط ذات توتر 500 كيلوفولت تكون قوة الحقل الكهربائي 8 كيلوفولت/متر. وعلى نفس المسافة من خطوط توتر 750 كيلوفولت تكون قوة هذا الحقل 15 كيلوفولت/متر. وكما تبين التجارب فإن الإنسان يتعرض إلى عوارض صحية سيئة إذا ما تعرض لمدة ساعة ونصف يوميا لحقل بهذه القوة فكيف سيكون حاله إذا تعرض لمثل ذلك طيلة اليوم؟
إن الحقل الكهربائي تحت خطوط التوتر يؤدي إلى تراكم الشحنات الكهربائية وارتفاع في الكمون الكهربائي نسبة لكمون الأرض في اﻷجسام المعزولة عنها بما في ذلك جسم الإنسان الذي يحتذي حذاء عازلا , وأجسام الحيوانات ذوات الحوافز، وفي هياكل السيارات والناقلات ذات العجلات العازلة (كاو تشوك)
إن الكمون المرتفع في جسم الإنسان (والحيوانات) يقود إلى تفريغ الشحنات الكهربائية من الجسم لتنتقل إلى الأعشاب وأغصان الأشجار وغيرها. ومع أن عملية التفريغ هذه ليست خطيرة على جسم الإنسان نظرا لضعف التيار إلا أنها تسبب شعورا غير مريح يمكن أن تكون سببا للإصابة بالهلع وفقدان الذاكرة والبطء في تنظيم الحركة وغير ذلك.
ترجمة - أنجليزي Electric transmission and distribution
Electric energy is transmitted over large distances using high voltage power lines (66, 150, 220, 400, 500, 750, 1500 kilovolt ...), and an industrial frequency of 50 Hz. These transmission lines frequently run in proximity to homes and work places and above busy roads. The danger in these lines lies in the strong magnetic fields and ,to a lesser extent, the strong electric fields that they generate. These fields are strongest directly beneath the power lines and diminish as we move away from their vertical projection. For example, The magnetic field strength on the ground directly under a 765 kV power line is 5 microteslas, and 50 metres away it is one microtesla. High voltage power lines are about 15 metres high.
The electric field also is strong close to high power lines, for example, It is 8 kV/m 500 meters away from a 500 kV line, and 15kV/m the same distance from a 750 kV line. Tests indicate adverse health effects if a person was to be subjected to this field strength for one and half hours let alone round the clock.
An electric field beneath a high voltage line leads to a build-up of electric charge, and to an increase in electric potential relative to earth in isolated bodies, as in the body of a human wearing an insulating shoe, or the bodies of hoofed mammals, or rubber-tired vehicles.
A high potential in the human body (or in the body of animals) causes an electric discharge from the body to the grass and tree branches and other objects. Although the discharge is not harmful to the human body due to the weakness of the current, it may cause discomfort, and may bring about a panic attack, memory loss, or a loss of coordination, and other problems.
