How to obtain potassium hydroxide or lye?

Principle:

Since potassium is present in the fundamental cells of living organisms, it is almost present everywhere, especially in organic matter, but , normally, it is present in greater quantity in some materials than others. For example, banana peels have a fair amount of potassium. On burning these living materials, the ash obtained contains a fair amount of potassium. On mixing it with water, potassium hydroxide is obtained. In a lucid language, potassium is obtained from:
1. soil,
2. banana peels,
3. other organic matter,
4. wood ash,
5. the ash of anything
6. soap.

I am a veterinarian and have completed my BVSC from Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Kashmir and my MVSC from Indian Veterinary Research Institute. Currently, I am persuing PHD from SKUAST-K in Microbiology.

I am from a medical background but have a taste of World History, Chemistry and General Science. As such, I have gone through a lot of such literature also.
