لغة نص المصدر - أنجليزي The Middle East region witnessed in the 20th century accelerated events; it seems that the declaration of establishment of the state of Israel is the most important event. This event led to wars, tensions, instability occupying territories and displacing people. Although, the United Nations treated the situation throughout its resolutions however, the peace process still stuck. Despite, the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly issued many resolutions deal with this case but it seems that the General Assembly resolutions 181 and 194 and the Security Council resolutions 242 and 338 are the most significant. In Beirut summit 2002 the Arab League announced the Arab Peace Initiative which is based on the mentioned United Nations resolutions and it invites Israel to hold peace talks with the Arab states in order to find a full peace agreement. Although, 14 years have passed from the date of announcing the initiative but in the few last months the initiative came again to the media platforms due to the lights shed on it in the international political and legal platforms and the official and unofficial meetings between the Arab officials and Israeli officials the thing which has been understood as an attempt to revive the peace talks in the region.	ترجمة - عربي شهدت منطقة الشرق الأوسط أحداثاً متسارعةً خلال القرن العشرين؛ ولعلَّ إعلان قيام دولة إسرائيل كان الحدث الأبرز من بين هذه الأحداث، حيث تمخّض عنه قيام الحروب ونشوب التوترات وعدم الاستقرار وأدى إلى احتلال البلاد وتشريد العباد. ومع أنّ الأمم المتحدة قد تعاطت مع المسألة من خلال تبنّيها للعديد من القرارات، فإن عملية السلام ما زالت عالقة؛ ورغم إصدار مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة والجمعية العامة للعديد من القرارات التي تعالج هذه القضية، إلا أنّ قراريّ الجمعية العامة 181 و 194 وقراريّ مجلس الأمن 242 و338 تبقى هي القرارات المحورية والأكثر أهمية. وقد أعلنت جامعة الدول العربية في قمة بيروت التي عُقدت عام 2002 عن مبادرة السلام العربية، حيث تستند هذه المبادرة إلى قرارات الأمم المتحدة المذكورة آنفاً، وتدعو اسرائيل لإجراء محادثات سلام مع الدول العربية بهدف التوصّل إلى اتفاق سلام شامل. ورغم مُضيّ أربعة عشر عاماً من تاريخ إعلان هذه المبادرة، إلا أنّ تداولها قد طُرح مجدداً عبر منابر وسائل الإعلام في الأشهر القليلة المنصرمة؛ ومردّ ذلك هو تسليط الضوء على هذه المبادرة سواء في المحافل الدولية السياسية والقانونية، أم في الاجتماعات الرسمية وغير الرسمية بين المسؤولين العرب والمسؤولين الإسرائيليين، وهو ما يُفهم منه على أنه محاولة لإحياء محادثات السلام في المنطقة.
