I have been working in translation since July 2006. Between December 2006 and April 2007, I had an intensive training for editorial staff in Syria Today English Magazine. The training emphasized on writing headlines and news articles.
Starting May 2007, I joined Resettlement unit of UNHCR, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. My tasks include interpretation during interviews, translation of different related subjects.
I also have clerical tasks; I'm a focal point for several referrals such as medical ones.
It has been an exciting experience working in this organization; dealing with refugees and employees of different cultures have widened my horizon. It also put me in touch with English native speakers who helped me in improving my language.
I also successfully undertook a writing effectively for UNHCR course. I also passed IELTS academic test.
In March 2010, I became senior resettlement assistant in the a/m organization. During which I interviewed refugees mainly in Arabic and wrote reports based on the interview which added to my writing and translation/interpretation skills.
In June 2013, I became resettlement associate. My new job was mainly about identifying cases for resettlement and arrange to cover the quota with higher management. |
