OK tool, quite easy to learn, but buggy and stuck in the past
Review by
lingoaccess . We have been deploying Trados for more than 10 years now.
The 2022 version of Trados is something to be considered when acquiring a new CAT-tool, but upgrading from earlier versions does not really add huge value (but a huge cost) unless cloud services for storage/project handling as well as machine translation are desired.
Trados is relatively easy to learn/handle, but at the same time stuck in the past.
Be aware of the following:
The 2022 version is (as of November 2022) buggy. Editing the Windows registry might be required to get things working properly, switching between projects is buggy.
Trados is having difficulties with UNC and requires mapped drives.
Licensning is "outdated" and not user friendly in times of home-office and remote work, i.e. can't use remote desktop unless when deploying a network license which again requires a local (separate computer acting as) server for license management (no cloud license)
When editing/translating the find/replace function comes short to MemoQ.
Editing/maintaining TMs needs improvment.
