D1 discloses mobile wireless communications comprising a K-bits block which contains a CRC for error detection, X-bits CRC which is generated and appended for list decoder followed by a polar coding, a polar code block which is decoded by a successive cancellation list decoder, and the resulting block having N bits which is modulated and transmitted over a wireless air interface.
D1 fails to disclose the CRC bits which is a total number of combined CRC bits and is selected based on at least a list size used in SCL decoding.
However, the person skilled in the art would learn from D1 that the false positive rate of both TBCC and polar codes depends on the size X of the Xbit CRC and the list size L (see page 4), and that for TBCC, the CRC length X should be adapted to the list size to select the CRC length X based on the list size (see the table in page 4).
Therefore, the achieved false alarm normalization improves the performance of the coding scheme.
In the view of the disclosure in D1 that the false positive rate for polar codes depends on the size X of the X-bit CRC and the list size in the same manner as for TBCC, the person skilled in the art would be prompted to select the CRC size X also for polar codes based on the list size L.
