: For example: 10 Jumada al-Ula 1412 (Hijri calendar)/November 16, 1991 (Gregorian calendar), you can go to "Islamic calendar converter" in Google to find the corresponding date for either calendar.

AH and CE
I agree that these are Hijri and Gregorian dates, but for academic works in particular, I would use the abbreviations AH (anno Hegirae) and CE (common era).
14 Rajab 1398 AH (June 20, 1978 CE)
However, you don't necessarily need to include CE for a more recent year like 1978, especially if it is obvious in the text which time period it refers to.
