اُجَنُّ

I wanted to confirm that there can be several basic past forms to this verb, as it appears here.

أتشبّثُ بكلماتك
يا نزار
حتى لا أُجَنّ
حتى لا أنهار

I suppose it can come from either from جَنَّ or or even from أَجَنَّ (less so meaning-wise - "cover", "hide")?
If جَنَّ - I see that "fall" is an acceptable meaning.
Of course "go mad" is the first meaning the comes to mind, but I feel the register is not high enough. Can anyone think of one word that can fit and convey that meaning? That would be ideal.

Otherwise, this is what I suggest:

I cling onto your words
Nizar
Lest I shatter
Lest I collapse

I feel this keeps some of the rhythm and "shatter" is like "fall".

What are your thoughts?

عربي term (edited): أجـُـنَّ
Selected

become insane

This is from past tense جـُنَّ
but is in present tense أًجـُـنَّ
The meaning is definitely "become insane", "go mad".

It is NOT related to past tense جـَنَّ
nor present tense يجَنُّ
meaning "to cover"; also "to become dark" (night)

You can use shatter
