It usually drops off a bit, but life is full of surprises... Nov 12, 2019

I work mostly for the EU Institutions and they will be closed from the 16th December until the 3rd January. All my other regulars know that I'll be available for them. Besides that, I work with two “historical” clients who have different cultural practices and traditions. I must say also that have been working as a translator for over 40 years and it looks like some words have been erased from our vocabulary, for instance “usually” and “impossible”...

unpredictable but .... Nov 12, 2019

On one hand it may drift off as one gets close to the holidays. Otoh, there are agencies who are suddenly scrambling for a translator who is still available, and end clients who start thinking about the new year and want to get things going while they have time off from work. It's been different from year to year.

Sort of Nov 12, 2019

In fact, I'm too busy to respond in detail to this just now. Let's just say that people in academic circles, for example University professors and researchers, tend to appear with things they need to get published more often in their "spare" time, i.e. during school breaks and university holidays, so I sometimes get quite a lot of work in November and December, or June and July, although not so much in August-September, when this kind of client is thinking about getting back to work.

Maybe until Dec 22, at the most Nov 12, 2019

Of course people want to "accelerate" theirs and our yielding before the holidays. It happens every year. So, up to Dec 22, the workload usually increases a bit. From then till the end of January, however, it's usually a disaster.

Not sure Nov 12, 2019

I usually don't notice any seasonality.
But these past weeks have been busier and I may reach my usual sales figure this year after a rather unhectic beginning.
