It's a very handy app to quickly change some wording in a few segments, while you only have your iPhone at hand. On an iPad, Linguan looks even better. (BTW: There's a Mac app too: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/linguan/id477163052?mt=12 )
Some answers from the developer:
HL: Can it open XLIFF files via the iOS Dropbox app?
Yes it can, the process is: 1. Tap the menu next to a dropbox file and choose Export. 2. Tap Open In… and select Copy to Linguan.
HL: Are there any limitations to the size of the XLIFF file?
None I’ve run into - it’s essentially limited by the amount of memory in your device.
HL: How does it handle/protect tags? (See the attached XLIFF file where I tagged the words bold and italics.)
I’m afraid it doesn’t support tags (it does open the file but will strip out any tags when you re-save.
Features that I'm missing, to make this app even nicer:
Handling of tags, e.g. via a toolbar displaying the tags above the segment that's being edited.
Recognition of the extensions SDLXLIFF and MQXLIFF (now I have to rename them to XLF).
A basic Find feature, both in source and target segments.
Tapping on the status bar at the bottom will bring you to the last segment.
