各位高手前辈！最近在翻译一本书时看到这句话：“Young people with a flair for writing sometimes try to express themselves with nothing more worthy than themselves to express. ”
我的译句是：天生会写作的年轻人有时候努力做出一种“只有自己才配写作”的姿态来表现自我。
不知道这种理解对不对？有没有更好的译法？谢谢！

这句话有点绕，我觉得其大意是说，有写作天分的年轻人有时候觉得没什么东西值得他们写/配他们写。
不知各位同仁有何高见？

这句话的意思是说：
Young people with a flair for writing sometimes try to express themselves with (the thought that) nothing is more worthy (to express than themselves ).
有才华的年轻人有时候经常孤芳自赏，认为只有自己才配得上自己的如花妙笔。
这话是很绕口，我看了半天没看明白。后来找了网上一个类似的句子参考：
They would perhaps have been surprised to know that journalist Yaron... See more 这句话的意思是说：
Young people with a flair for writing sometimes try to express themselves with (the thought that) nothing is more worthy (to express than themselves ).
有才华的年轻人有时候经常孤芳自赏，认为只有自己才配得上自己的如花妙笔。
这话是很绕口，我看了半天没看明白。后来找了网上一个类似的句子参考：
They would perhaps have been surprised to know that journalist Yaron London views foreign workers who wish to settle in Israel more worthy than themselves to be considered members of his people, since those migrants, contrary to them, speak his language and share in his destiny.

These young people are too much into themselves. All they want to talk about is themselves. To these guys it is the only worthy topic. If it has nothing to do with themselves, they basically have nothing to say.

仔细读了一下，感觉这次我应该读懂了，试解释如下：
Young people with a flair for writing sometimes try to express themselves with nothing more worthy than themselves to express 的句子结构为：with nothing more worthy than themselves to express 是做状语修饰前面的内容，
with nothing more worthy than themselves to express 可以这样理解：with （nothing more worthy than themselves） to express，其中 nothing more worthy than themselves 的大致意思是什么东西都没有他们自身更有表现的价值。

谢谢大家的热心看点。看了后茅塞顿开。我想这样翻译：“擅长写作的年轻人有时会把写作当成了表现自我的手段。”
之所以要这么译，是因为接下来的两句话：“It takes more than a study of journalism to write a good magazine article. It takes more than a study of methods to write a good Bible lesson.”
从这两句话看，作者是想批评某些人华而不实的作风。请大家继续指正。谢谢！

Hi, My old friend!! how are you now? I have been studying theology these years. Now I have completed all the work except a graduate thesis. so I have time to do translation. Now I am working on a book about Christian education. and have some problems to consult with friends here.

结合下文看，我觉得意思就是 这些年轻人有时为表现自己的写作能力而写作。

有写作天分的年轻人有时候试图只表现自己，而对比自己更值得写的东西则不着一字（一个字也不写）。

虽然没有真正值得发表的题材，但备有写作天分的年轻人偏要写文章，但实际上，好的文章不能单靠写作技术捏造出来。同样的，讲圣经时不能依靠授课手段 （而要对圣经有深层的理解）。
