I'm a newbie here and I received a document about 2 days ago with the title Expansion of Agriculture in Europe and the file name was as simple as Project Her name is Alice Mcbride and the email is [email protected].
Here is the email I received from her after I gave my quote:

"Your price seems relatively okay and the delivery period works for me. I'm glad we could agree on this, to make this easier for both parties, you will receive a 50% deposit upfront to start and the balance upon completion of the project. If this works for you, kindly get back to me with the details below so that the payment can be facilitated via check as soon as possible."

I asked for more details and they sent me a long Word doc called "Proyecto", saying "Hello Giulia, Here is a copy of the document for your perusal. The attached document is 50 pages, and it starts with "Restructuration de l'agriculture (étude de cas) partie 1". A quick search on Google and I found this thread, so I am not even going to reply. Thanks a lot, and beware!

Hello. Two days ago I've been contacted for a similar project by another address ([email protected]). Similar dynamics: I've sent my prices and an hypothetical delivery date. She offered 50% in advance instead of the 30% that I proposed and she said that she would pay via check (which made me suspicious).
I didn't send any bank infos, I wrote another email saying that I don't accept checks and that before anything I need a signed contract. She sent an email where the signed contract is... A first e-mail message received on the 25/08/2022:
"Hello,
I would like to confirm your availability to translate a document from French to Portuguese.
Thank you"
A second message dated from the 26/08/2022, with a document (Proyecto.docx), 50 pages (18887 s/w) under the name of Alice Mcbride ([email protected]).
The document's properties show the author as Yohan Cernik (Student).

Attached was a 45-page "project por.docx" on the expansion of agriculture in Europe. Obviously the same scam under a new name.

New name: Pamela Adriana ([email protected]). The scammer has a professional profile on ProZ and is associated with a real agency. They contacted me through the ProZ messaging system. The file name is "Project.docx" and the title of the file is "Restructuring of Agriculture (Case Study)". I will be reporting them.
Edit: Reported. Also, last I checked, the scammer removed the agency association (or the agency did) after a while, so now there is no association on their profile... I almost fell for it and I reported her. Proz was very quick to remove her profile, but as she was known as a scammer, I wonder how she was allowed to open a new account under the same name…

The same scammer (I assume) is on the prowl again, this time under the guise of one Amanda Hasselman. Another gmail account (amandahasselman34), same inquiry, same project docx file, same agricultural text. In English, anyway.
They started writing to me via the bounce-handler. I suppose freelance translators on ProZ are their favourite prey.
Shame about the money, though, my eyes had already started to turn into euro signs.
