One more thing! You can also come across the term "Closing" when you try to finalize the deal of purchasing a house and the like!

I agree again:) based on a few words mentioned above, key terms, بقيمة الأعمال التي تمت فعلا, you normally associate that with business transaction. Therefore, I am "guessing" the question is about a business contract that was somehow categorized as a law contract! Best Regards!
Mohsin Alabdali Sep 16, 2011:
Thank you, sir. You are absolutely correct in making the final statement that a term is always defined by the context. Context is essential, but occasionally a translator can make a guess based on his experience in the field of his specialization. My guess the context neither legalese nor accounting but rather a project's last progress report.
Said Abouharia Sep 16, 2011:
To Mr. Mohsin I totally agree with your explanation, and that's why I am neutral when it comes to your suggestion. I don't want to be technical about this question, but the term that we use in accounting is "Closing" without adding statement. I perform "monthly closing" at the end of each month, and the big one at the end of the year to reverse the accounts which become the beginning balances for the next new year, and also depending on the accounting calender adopted by the company. On a different note, I always encourage the askers to provide a full context to help their mates who make an effort to help them otherwise they are subject to receiving wrong suggestions. A term is always defined by the context except if that term is a proper noun!

agree Morano El-Kholy : Closing statements.

agree Said Abouharia : "Closing Statements" is the right term for accounting. Most companies perform monthly closings, recording the transactions have been made during the month and then print a trial balance which shows the loss and the profit of the company.

Many thanks. Probably you are right, but it is not exclusive to court settings. The term is also used when submitting a last progress report on a project.
