المشرف الفائق من النوع 2 يشبه سطح الوب من جهة أن الشخصية الثانوية تشغَّل كأي تطبيق آخر في نظام التشغيل الأولي. لكنْ، بدلا من استضافة متصفح فقط، فإن الشخصية الثانوية هي نظام تشغيل ضيف كامل الميزات، ينفّذ من داخل آلة افتراضية أنشأها تطبيق برنامج Hypervisor (انظر الشكل 1). يستخدم برنامجُ Hypervisor نظامَ التشغيل الأولي للتعامل مع عمليات الدخل/الخرج، وهذا النهج في التحقيق الافتراضي virtualization يحقق متطلبات توفير بيئات وظيفية كاملة لكلتا الشخصيتين.
