cards will do fine for me

When I was a PM, I received a couple of merry Xmas cards, but no presents. I heard from colleagues that some translators sent chocolates.

With my business hat on: I am sending Christmas postcards to most clients this year, and small gifts (not chocolates, but in a similar vein) to my bigger clients and a couple folks whose recommendations brought me some business. It's a small gesture for their contribution to my bottom line, and a nice way to remind them that I am still investing in myself as a professional translator. Since I focus on working with smaller businesses and developing personal relationships with PMs, rather than simply being a name in a database, this fits in well with my business model.
On a personal note: I just like Christmas! This is a fun time of year for me, and I enjoy sending handwritten notes to people. It's a negligible outlay to make people I work with smile. ▲ Collapse
