I am asked to conduct a naming consultation which includes Lithuanie and Estonia - can you tell me which languages, besides Lithuanian (and Estonian???) are spoken there?
Many thanks for your quick reply!

Russian and a bit of English
Jul 28, 2005
The Baltics were annexed by the USSR in 1939. So you will find people there who only speak Russian. (tolko russki jazik). My friend from Estonia speaks Russian, Estonian, English. I guess that being a part of the E.U., the younger generation will learn their mother-tongue and English instead of Russian.

though generally Estonian knowledge of Russian is bad (there are about 30 % of Russians in Estonia). In Lithuania there are about 8 % Russians.
With translators in Estonia and Lithuania we communicate only in English, also when visiting these countries I always speak English, no problems.
