Hi Malika, I received the same email today. The link is coded by using link-shortening websites, which completely hides the domain. And the sender's email is not from a company's domain. He isn't registered at Proz, on top of that. It did look very suspicious. I think it's just to get us to click that link. The link goes to an online work marketplace site that displays the ad looking for translators. The poster has no reviews on the site. I can't determine if it's a scam or not. I don't see that any harm can come out of contacting them, but I'd want more information about them before dealing with them. | | | Noura Tawil سوريا Local time: 15:28 عضو (2013) أنجليزي إلى عربي
You must be very brave to click that, Thomas | |

Whilst these platforms take a commission, the client pays the platform upfront and holds the money in escrow. When the assignment is delivered, the platform forwards the funds less commission to the service provider. Registering and maintaining an account on online work marketplaces requires a bit (lot) of effort, but I would judge that a client who is willing to pay up front is willing to pay. Unless, of course, the platform itself is sending out such emails to encourage people to register with them... | | | Henry Hinds الولايات المتحدة Local time: 06:28 أنجليزي إلى إسباني + ... احياء لذكرى
