We here in Egypt use the word دبلومة which means a pre-master degree study.

You can be as vague as the original. "Post-graduate studies" does not really say if he obtained the degree or not.

My preparation for a master's
The masdar تمهيد means preparation. With the final ـي it means my preparation. ماجستير means Master's. What Ahmad proposes in my opinion, my preliminary studies for a master's is also feasibile. The problem is the pronoun at the end of the masdar which would make it " my preparation."
