differences between two terms

According to what I know The general is a step higher from public. If we're talking about a state, the general prosecutor should be presenting the state while the public one would be presenting a city for example within the state.

Yes, you did.

Whenever you do, you should wait until you receive the answer you are looking for. In most cases, once you have found out the answer, you will be able to translate the term without having to post another question. If, after satisfying your need regarding the meaning of the English term, you still feel in need of help with the translation, please help us by including your findings about the meaning, and a note about why you are still struggling with the term, so that we do not end up insulting your intelligence by repeating information we expect you already know or already have received in relpy to your other question. For example, we would assume that you know that in most Arab countries النائب العام and المدعي العام are the common terms used for prosecutors.

There may be some peculiarities in some particular Arab countries, so it is imperative in such questions to specify the regional relevance. For example, the equivalent term in Sudan is the Advocate General. On the same business card that I have for the Advocate General, the Arabic term used is المحامي العام

It would not surprise me to find different terms, such as الوكيل العام in other countries.

In all of these expressions, the modifier العام means that the officer represents the public sector, or, as we say in the US, "the people."
