reductio-ad-absurdum= البُرْهانُ بالتَّناقُض
قياس أساسه البرهنة على صحة المطلوب بإبطال نقيضه أو فساد المطلوب بإثبات نقيضه.
إحدى طرق البرهان غير المباشر، فَمَثَلاً إذا أريد إثبات أن عدد الأعداد الصحيحة هو لانهائي وبرهن على أن الفرض بأن عددها محدود هو تناقض نكون قد أثبتنا المطلوب.

إثبات العكس
يستخدم هذا المصطلح أساساً فى الرياضيات بمعنى إثبات العكس أو البرهنة بإثبات العكس, وفد استعير من الرياضيات ليستخدم فى السياقات الأخرى بنفس المعنى تقريباً رغم أن ظاهره يشير إلى التسخيف والعبثية, ولعل اللعبة المقصودة فى الجملة هي إثبات العكس أو إظهار التناقض أو كما يقال فى العامية المصرية \"خلف خلاف\"

It sounds to me that what is meant by the sentence is 'for fun' or 'for the fun of it'.
