看到yueyin 和 jyuan 提到的这几天中国的两起事故，看看国内的报道，再想想美国和中国对VT shooting的报道，很是难受。中国新闻应该多关注一下自己国内的tragedy，关注一下那些可怜的受害人的家庭，深挖一下到底这样的悲剧是怎么会一再产生，暴露一下责任人/失职人的嘴脸。
知道他们都想要吸引大众关注，可是如果他们能真的下到事故地点，近距离将问题和后果展示给大家，再找找原因，应该可以唤起更多的讨论和社会关注，或许还会促成一些措施的出台。新闻也有了，还可以有益于社会，为什么不能做呢？痛心。

Last I heard the book is still going to be written and published. What do you think he's gonna say? I committed the crime, beat the system, and got away with murder, literally.
I have to agree with Wenjer that the system failed in this instance as more and more details come out. The guy was a total psycho and should have been committed a long time ago.

As a veteran chemical engineer, I witnessed many fatal accidents and tragedies that took place in chemical plants during my career. I could imagine how devastated the victims’ families felt. My heart goes out with the deepest sympathy to the victims and their families!
How could the designers put that meeting room in such a dangerous place? I noticed that the steel ladles run across just above the meeting room. The designers and decision makers must be wrong in their upper storey! It suddenly reminds me of some words from an old Soviet movie: “用脑袋想，别用骨头想！”

其实，报导凶手是中国人，本来是中国民间网络媒体犯的错，与中国政府无关（除非是官方媒体也如此作了报导），但外交部发言人这么一说就等于承认官方也被误导了。那些媒体雇的翻译也许水平不高，但难道你外交部和中国驻美大使馆的翻译、外交官们水平也那么差吗？
国内有媒体说，VT案发后李肇星曾致电美国政府，可见连政府也认为凶手是中国人了（逻辑错误）。其实，即使凶手不是中国人，中国政府致电一下表示同情和慰问那也是合乎情理的，并没有浪费李肇星的感情（除非李肇星曾像韩国总统卢武铉那样表示过道歉）。

媒体在继承凶手的遗志，按他的既定方针办！媒体在帮他成为某些"would-be assailants”的偶像。这也是为什么此类凶杀案层出不穷的重要原因之一。
明天就是Columbine High School massacre八周年。八年前，媒体也是这样做的。

I agree. It is obvious to all of us living here in the U. S. how these stories are handled by the media. There is no way this misinformation was provided as facts by the U. S. side.
The only thing that counts in cases like this is the official announcement. And even then, all facts are qualified with "allegedly" until proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law (apparently not in this case since the "suspect" ended his own life).
IMO the foreign ministry officials lacked competence if they didn't even know this.

新闻专业问题，在台湾和欧美是不可同日而语，某些电台处理新闻的手法和“新闻制造业”差不多，没的事情也会变成像是真的一样，如同还没证实 VT 事件的凶嫌是哪位亚裔人士就抢先报导是华裔那样，或者是有的事情也能做到大事化小、小事化无的地步。由此可见媒体宣传工具可以造成多大的社会伤害。社会大众不予监督怎成？
曾在 2003 年为德意志历史博物馆翻译过一则展览公告，觉得值得参考，附贴于下：
说谎的图像
主办单位： 波昂德意志联邦共和历史之家
协办单位： 德意志联邦政治通识教育中心
展览期间： 二○○三年十月二日至二○○四年二月一日
展览地点： 贝聿铭展览馆
本巡回展览“说谎的图像”是由波昂德意志联邦共和历史之家所推出，其展览主题为图像客观性的探讨，展示图像如何受到操弄、如何被利用来操弄民意。
在这个展览中，参观的民众能学习而得知如何洞察“谎言的究竟”。展览中约有三百件物品，让民众得知媒体如何利用图像操弄民意。其中最为人所熟知的手法，即是照片底稿的修饰。这是集权体制的政权至今仍然沿用的手法。
“禁绝：禁绝记忆”－在这个展览区内，展出集权体制政权如何消灭人民对已往公众人物的记忆。本展览取用此一概念，并加以衍申，向民众展示集权体制政权如何将失宠而受难的公众人物，从既有的照片底稿之中涂消，让人民淡忘。使用剪刀和涂饰照片的手法，在现今已属落伍，因为时下的数字图像处理技术，几乎已经达到能以假乱真的地步。
“未来：未来手法”－在这个展览区内，展出晚近研发的虚拟实境技术如何将回异的图像底稿组合起来，形成人造图像的世界。
图像有时也会透过解说的文字信息说谎。在“波恩：麦克波恩”这个展览区内，展出麦克波恩这位新闻记者如何利用新闻媒体的疏忽，安排造假的场景，制作极其不可思议的三Ｋ党以及库德族恐怖份子的专题报导，让许多电视媒体信以为真而予以播放。在他的报导中，并非图像本身而是伴随的解说，让图像说出谎言。
另一个图像谎言的手法，即是将一张张刻意安排的照片组合起来。在“英明：英明领袖”这个展览区内，展示的是如何安排造假的场景，让一位政治领袖的“英明亲民”超乎寻常。
每个展览区都有历史背景交代。主要着重于谎言技术应用、拆穿谎言，以及相信谎言历史过程的解说，也同时解说那些造假的各种不同动机，无论是为了个人声望、商业利益、政治目的等，在这个展览中均一一解说。
本展览的目的在于让民众对图像能有批判性的观察和体悟。
